Israel has conducted air raids in parts of Lebanon after rockets were fired from the area into northern Israel.
No group has claimed responsibility but the Israeli military blames the Palestinian group Hamas.
Analysts say that neither Lebanon nor Israel wants a war, but that it is unlikely that Hamas could have acted without the knowledge and backing of Lebanon’s Hezbollah, which has not condemned the rocket fire.
