Mexico cartel violence: Concerns raised over safety at upcoming World Cup

After cartel violence erupted across Mexico last week, questions have surfaced regarding the country’s ability to co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Concerns are focused particularly on the city of Guadalajara, in Jalisco state. It is set to host four matches, but it recently saw some of the country’s worst roadblocks and disruption.
