A Jewish anti-Zionist activist disrupted an Israeli real estate event at a synagogue in west London, as protesters gathered outside to oppose the marketing of property linked to Israeli settlements.
Police dispersed demonstrators and made several arrests after the protest moved onto nearby roads and blocked traffic.
Some of the properties being advertised are believed to include land in occupied East Jerusalem and Gush Etzion in the occupied West Bank, territories that are considered occupied Palestinian land under international law.
More than 100 British MPs have signed a letter urging the government to ban such events, arguing that promoting property in illegal settlements is inconsistent with international law.
A recent report by Amnesty International says the expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank has accelerated under the current Israeli government.
The event has reignited debate in Britain over settlements, international law and the UK’s approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
